Actually, Riserva Speciale. Gorgeous intense red fruit with some gnarly bramble notes, a hint of tobacco and orange peel. Also some light floral notes lift the focused and delicious mid palate. Really fascinating. Good age for drinking right now- that great place between secondary notes with intense fruit. What a treat.. Delicious

Tasted blind. Dark tawny color. Translucent but barely so. Fragrant nose. Italian is the first verbal guess. Notes of black cherry, black soil, rose petals and some wood. Chewy in the mouth. Young and refined. After debating if it's an 89 or a 90 Barolo I go with a guess of 82 Giacosa SS Barbaresco. A great treat to try this side by side against the 78 Conterno Monfortino. Giacosa wins tonight.
