It's always a pleasure tastong new vintages from Cadence. The nose on the '13 Tapteil is gorgeous and almost sensual, as dusty dried flowers gave way to a mix of blueberries and currants, followed by hints of Indian spice, violet candies and slate. On the palate, I found rich, dark textures offset by vibrant acidity, as notes of black raspberry, blackberry and sweet cherry washed across the senses, slowly fading to saturating spice and light youthful tannin. There's so much balance and concentration here, that it's sure to age beautifully. The finish was long with violet florals, sweet spice, and blueberry skins with a tug fine tannin. Well done.

The wine has a dark opaque garnet core with magenta highlights. A swirl in the glass offers up a bouquet with good intensity (M+) with aromas of ripe black, red and blue fruits. Blackberry, cherry and boysenberry are mixed with dry peppercorn, leafy herbal notes and a brambly dry underbrush earthiness. The palate is full bodied and shows a combination of good structure and good complexity (M+) with a long finish. The tannins are present and dusty in texture but balanced by a mouthwatering acidity.
71% Cabernet Sauvignon 18% Merlot 11% Cabernet Franc

Home wine tasting, really didn’t care for it though wasn’t horrible. Too earthy and grassy. Aerated was much better than unaerated though. We preferred the Ciel du Cheval of the same winery - same price of $45

Love red mountain and this vineyard. As you would expect; it's intense and deep... but in balance, so ready to satisfy impatience. Good value for the quality.

One of the most consistent producers in WA, vintage after vintage. I realize that consistent doesn't seem like "sexy" or "amazing", but much like a great chateau in Bordeaux, when you know you get consistently great wine every year, you can't ask for anything else. Mostly Cab with some Merlot & Franc. Check out Cadence if you never have before.
