Cantina Villa Mora
Montefalco Rosso Riserva Sagrantino
Concentrated dark fruit. Huge wine at 15.5% but alcohol isn't too hot. Firm tannins but not overwhelming. Very enjoyable wine. 2006 is better than the 2008.

Jan 19th, 2015A bit more brute force than finesse though it does get the job done. Would score higher if it didn't carry that faint whiff of vanilla, though it is not unbearable. Starting to show mature notes of Sangiovese, albeit a bit hidden under the layers of a more international style. Kinda can't decide what it wants to be - a super-hyphenated of some description or something more classic. I'd lean toward the latter but I think the winemakers are more inclined to the former. Still good value at $20
