Papera Ranch Zinfandel
This wine is amazing. The fragrance from the moment the bottle lost its cork was like walking through a small room filled with flowers and berries: nearly overwhelming. Because of its age, I thought this might not last, but it did to the second night, when I finished the bottle. Ultra-smooth tannins, nice acidity, berries, sharp pepper, and earth flavors easily help up to and complimented the spicy meat dish I prepped. Mike suggests this wine through 2018 (on his website, from 2009), and I’d agree there’s no reason to wait any longer on this wine.

Nov 19th, 2017Great aromas of pepper and berries out of the bottle, but much more subdued on the palate. Smooth tannins, worked well with my elk tenderloin. May be beyond its peak, but still delicious.
