With an almost Bordeaux-like quality to the fruit, the 2018 Castello dei Rampolla Chianti Classico is quite unusual in style but a good wine nevertheless.
The nose is a dead ringer for St. Estephe, much less so Tuscany, and is distinctly marked by dark black fruits, cedar, warm earth and graphite. The palate is different again, this time more ‘blue’ clad, with very ripe and bold flavours of blueberry, blackcurrant and liquorice, while the tannins play a mellow role and the acidity doesn’t quite balance the act.

Nov 25th, 2021Classic Sangio aroma. Moderate aromas of cherry and red flower - agree with new baseball glove aroma comment-. med body, med plus acidity, med plus intensity, bit flat, moderate tannin, fruity cherry and licorice, fig come first followed by hint of bitterness. med plus finish with elegant rose on the palate. Simple, juicy Chianti Classico. Tomato spaghetti with basil can goes well!
