Chappellet
Pritchard Hill Estate Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Popped and poured; no formal notes. This 2006 Chappellet “Pritchard Hill” Cabernet Sauvignon was enjoyed alongside a 2001 St. Supery “Dollarhide” and a 2005 Beaulieu Vineyard “Georges De Latour”. All three were well stored examples from the same cellar. The 2006 “Pritchard Hill” is easily the biggest wine we enjoyed on this night. Big and bold with ripe (and maybe some stewed) black and red fruits, some tobacco, leather and baking spices. Good structure. An impressive wine for lovers of the more modern style of Napa Cabernet’s yet, there is something for all because the quality of the Pritchard Hill fruit is undeniable. Drink now and over the next 5-10 years.

Feb 18th, 2015One note. A nice wine but kind of meh. At $125 a bottle meh doesn't really work. Generally I'm a fan of the Pritchard Hill....but I'm mind of bitchy tonight.

Mar 9th, 20141 hour decant(decent fine /cloudy sediment). A striking dark garnet with some bricking. On the nose: subdued notes of dark fruit, currants, herbaceous, forest floor, worn leather, coffee grounds, slight menthol. Taste: smooth, slightly creamy, mouthcoating wine with black fruit, cedar, minerals, dark chocolate, earth, and a spiced graphite long finish with just a touch of heat. YUM!

Apr 14th, 2018This is my last '06 and it has been awhile. Oh my, is this good! It is so balanced from front palette to the very very long finish. Complex and subtle simultaneously. It is a shame that I plowed through the first 5 early in its life cycle as this vintage clearly had decades of bottle life left. I have no control for outstanding wines. The good news is I have 3 '05s left (another delightful vintage) as well as others.
