Les Petites Roches Chinon Cabernet Franc

Good but not terribly expressive tonight for some reason. Cherry cough syrup, raspberry, some woodsy, earth and herbal tones.

Just concluded our annual Fall seclusion into the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again.

Nose of cherry with crushed pits, light green herbs and distant barnyard. Palate is light, but has medium acidity, cherry/raspberry/black currant jam with citrus zest. Medium finish.

Nose has chalkboard dust, mashed cherries, raspberry, ripe currant, oak bark, (minor) moist garden soil, milk chocolate bar and moist pipe tobacco.

Palate has crushed cherries, orange peel, ripe black currant, blackberry, graphite and medium tannins. Long finish, amazing bottle this evening.

About two years since our last bottle, doing very, very well this evening, can hold another 6-12Y (2026-32) in proper storage.

Chewy, chewy, chewy. Dry and earthy. Deserves good food.

Classic producer, classic #cabernetfranc expression.

Nose is bold, unripe cranberries, wet soil, wet bark, much more earth than fruit. Palate is DRY, unfiltered cranberry, tannins are there but not overwhelming. Wine is green, and requires some time.

Cranberry, dark plum, touch of pomegranate, picking up slight herbaceous tones. Damp cellar and moist wood also show on nose. Palate reiterates this.

Positive surprise. Nice balance in acidity and frutiness while tertiary flavours are moving forward. Light/medium intensity.

CVed 2/18/17. First taste of young cab franc. Fresh nose with hints of that green peppers but also wild flowers and minerals. Medium body with Good balance and medium finish that faded.
