Wine #3 in an '05 blind tasting. This does not happen often, but I respectfully disagree w/ the fine gentleman from CA. There is some cherry and forest floor, but the fruit is gone. After 2 hours it hasn't opened up and the secondary flavors aren't compensating enough. Enjoyable yet was hoping for more.

Sep 13th, 2015Wine #3 in an 05 retrospective. Vanilla and fluer de sel and dark cherry stick out. Earth and mushroom and blackberry notes show up and dominate. The tannins are well rounded and show up on the medium-length finish.

Great little pick-me-up from Rick Hess on a Tuesday after a long weekend. Nice dark fruits. Decanted for an hour and will consume the rest of the evening....
