Coincidentally, it was also Thomas Keller's birthday, AND the 20th anniversary of Bouchon Bistro being open - meant to be! 06 is drinking very nicely.. black cherry balsamic reduction, stewed black plums, decayed purple flower petals, velvety and grainy tannins, beautiful mouthfeel.

The nose is clean with a pronounced intensity. Complex aromas of black fruit (plum, black current and black cherry) sweet spice (clove, vanilla) dried plum, fig, leather and forest floor, meaty.
On the palate the wine is dry with high acid medium alcohol and soft medium tannins. Medium (+) body with flavours similar as the nose, strong leather and black current. Pronounced flavour intensity and long finish.
V. Good wine can drink now but can also age a bit more.

May 12th, 2017Deep purple colour with an enticing plum and blackcurrant bouquet. Took around 2 and a half hours post decanting to smoothen out and even then kept a certain astringency. A cocoa flavour rather overpowers the fruit on the taste. Better with food. NB this 2006 was drunk in 2016.
