A very pretty St Estephe drinking well now. Cedar, vanilla, sweet tobacco, black cherry, blackcurrant, prune, violet, blackberries, anise, and smoke round out the nose and palate. A bit more closed on the nose than palate, which rounded out with fine tannins. Shorter finish than expected but overall a lovely match with ribeye.

This is usually a great second wine that allows you a glimpse to what his big brother Cos d'Estrounel would deliver in years to come. In 2012 I hope it is not predictive as it was nice but nothing more. Deep red in color, nose full of raspberry, and other red fruits, a touch of black current, medium body, good acidity, dry finish. Not complex yet pleasant. My score 86, drink 2016-2022
