The 2017 Chateau Coutet is a beautiful wine that is needing a bit more time in the bottle to gain complexity. Aromatically intense, the wine shows good range from honey and nutmeg infused creme brûlée tones that combine with lighter wet stone and brandy soaked pear aromas that take shape in the glass. Flavors of vanilla cream and butterscotch with apricot jelly accents highlight this gorgeous wine. The palate has great tension and verve, revealing a silky mouthfeel. The exceedingly long finish lingers long on the tongue. Give this beautiful wine a few years in the cellar prior to enjoying. Drink 2022-2040- 94

Jan 24th, 2020Orange peel marmalade, apricot, spices?, tropical fruits (notably pineapple). Honey with subtle (Brazilian nut) nutty quality. Very faint hint of cheese. Rich, fairly complex, and lasting. Just lovely.

Very elegant and complex Barsac, orange peel, honey, peach and white flowers, good acidity and oh so balanced. Lovely now but no rush.

Jun 5th, 2023Oh my. Soo much better than the first bottle. This is a stunning Barsac. Very rich but balanced, Honey, fruit compote, orange zest, fresh, great acidity and very long in the mouth. This is top notch stuff and a steal at this price point.

Blend of Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. Rich and ripe orange marmalade and apricot aromas and flavors. Hints of white flowers, honey and ginger. Layers of well balanced acidity. Lighter in color than a typical Sauternes but the wine is bold and full bodied. Mouth coating. Lively, deep and fresh!
