Smooth and round. Not super dynamic but very pleasing at the same time. Reminds me of leathery notes with subtle dark fruit.

Short decant — 30 minutes?

NOSE: prune, leaves, dried cherry, a touch of cassis….first seemed over the hill but a swirl or two brought out some freshness…promising.

TASTE: Good! Wintergreen, pine, charcoal, coffee grounds, fruit’s mostly gone, but what’s there is dried (red fruit and cassis), minerally chocolate, leaves, some kind of root vegetable. Tannins dry the mouth. Not as good as the 2005 (duh) but still quite satisfying and wears its age well. I think this could age longer. 91.
