Baron Louis Cru Des Côtes du Rhône Lirac Red Rhone Blend

Solid effort for a difficult vintage, I’ve been buying and drinking this wine since the 1978 vintage, this is the first one to bear the Lirac AOC, previously they were all labeled AOC CdR, but as I understand it, these were (almost?) always all Lirac fruit, for the vintage, a very fine, clean, redfruited effort, but better things are coming from the better vintages following 2013!!

This is NOT the Baron Louis, but instead just the Cotes du Rhône, lovely darkfruits, nice balance, classic, clean CdR, definitely punches above its weight!!

I liked this a lot. Balanced, food-friendly.

Dried cherry and plum. A little off balance.

Medium body, nice easy drinking. Lot of fruit in front, mild fade at end.

Good depth, fair complexity w the blue/dark red fruit n mild tannins. Good n drinkable but not astoniahing.

Wonderful, superbly balanced. Would rate higher only if it had more complexity but it is very good as is.
