Château Haut-Brion
Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend
Holding together much better than the 89 at this point. Lovely structure and lingering quality.

Jun 1st, 2017Medium Crimson with tawny rim like black tea. Classical nose of Cigar Box Violets and initial barnyard reduction which blew off with time in decanter. Harmonious seamless palate showing some savoury notes with medium bodied supple tannins - hint of menthol. Unmistakably a First Growth with that extra level of refinement, living up to its reputation in a great vintage. Fully developed but could sit on the plateau for another 5 to 10 years with ease, but hard to resist now.

May 7th, 2017Deep garnet red with bricking on the edges. Lots of brett on the nose but that does not make us shy away. Notes of smoke, leather, bell peppers and animal. Moderate tannins (7/10) and medium plus bodied. Well integrated and so smooth, its almost silky. A bit of fruit and earthy notes on the palate. Long finish. Drink till 2020.
