More developed than anticipated - piercing acid, hoisin and soy sauce, mushrooms, dried leather, and forest floor. Perhaps an off bottle considering other notes.

Dark cassis and dry florals on the nose. Dry tannins, lean body, blackberries, stewed plum, blueberries, dark cherries, old leather, dry brown earth, dry tobacco, coffee grounds, leafs, high acid and a finish that falls a little flat. All these 2000's are just entering their first stage of drinkability. They still need 10-15 more years. And generally, the right bank wines from 2000 don't shine as well as the left bank wines

The Gaffeliere is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. This dark wine had a giant, oaky, vanillan nose, thick texture and strong tannins. It wasn’t pruney or hard however, and many at the dinner found it their favorite of the right bank flight. I would call this an extracted style, but it doesn’t go so far as to be over extracted. I would love to check in on this a few years from now.

Amazing fruit. Still young and very big but somehow elegant. Clove, allspice, cinnamon and blackberry

Nose has strong tannin structure to it; I can smell it's huge. Pencil lead, slate, and chewiness scents. Structured mouthfeel. Black cherry, anise, pencil lead, blackberry flavors. Finish lingers and the fruits surge and ebb. Lovely.
