Vintage 2009 | classy and classic Bordeaux with that characteristic smell of leather, cedar and soices. Black fruit. Lovely vibrancy. We compared this blind to Leoville Barton 09, Lagrange showing female playfulness while Barton shows male powerness. Still decades ahead but why wait? Paired with a venison pâté with foie gras and figs.

Modern and ripe without being too fruit forward. A really nice and open ‘09. New saddle leather and vanilla tobacco, and pepper dusted underripe blackberry on the nose. Tar, cherry, plum & underbrush round out the palate.

Wow... thought this guy was going to be a little too young but this wine was fantastic. Amazing value for a Grand Cru. Young, peppy Boudreaux

Ideally could use time in the cellar, but no harm trying now. Red fruit, a bit of wood and a pretty firm mineral core. Decant!

Tightly wound, will be a great wine in 5-8 years.

I was disappointed by the amarone before so I popped up this one to find a great reliable pour for the last evening of our guest and best friend from back home (and yours truly last evening before a day off).
What comes to mind is umami. The nose is full on cedar, cigar box, tar, black currant and soy sauce. The palate is massive, wide, grainy, silky, tannic in the rear with a grain, some chocolate and that umami, meat sauce touch that lingers for a very long moment. Bordeaux grand cru classé like you would like it to be every single time. 🥺

Not a good showing. Disjointed. Bitter alcoholic finish. Probably comes together in time.

WYLD restaurant at the Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch. Very smooth, great St. Julian red. Perfect pairing with steak.
