Château Lagrange

Les Fiefs de Lagrange St. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

This is very nice wine.
Listening to The Strokes and wondering where rock n roll went. It's completely vanished. I mean new rock bands- they don't exist. The charts are dominated with this disgusting pop/rap/country mashup. Somebody please name a solid rock band (that the masses know about) that has formed in the last 5 years.

Indeed! There was an infusion of good rock 15 years ago, but so many bands were playing dress up. Waiting for my teenage kids to write some songs and start a revival. @Pooneet K

Oh how right you are, Dave. At least we still have all that Classic Rock to enjoy with our vino! Listening to Genesis this afternoon.

Château Lagrange

Pagus de Lagrange Haut-Médoc Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

2019 vintage. From 13 hectares in the Haut-médoc appellation. In this vintage, the Cabernet Sauvignon was extremely concentrated, which explains the unusually high percentage of Merlot (67%). A serious wine, that is drinking well, but should further improve over the next few years. — 10 months ago

Château Léoville Barton

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

Vintage 2009 | classic Bordeaux at its best. Chocolate and black fruit, cedar. Very complete taste with spicyness. We compared this blind next to Lagrange 09, Leoville showing male power, Lagrange a bit further forward with female playfulness. Long aftertaste. Paired with venisonnpaté with foie gras and figs. — 4 years ago

Les Arums de Lagrange Sémillon Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2023

Pale lemon in color with a light golden hue.

Strong nose of citrus, limes, light oak, spices, earth and herbs.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity. Crisp and refreshing.

Dry on the palate with lemons, green apples, grapefruits, herbs, earth, spices and light wood.

Nice length on the finish with limes and almonds.

This is a very tasty white wine from Bordeaux. Elegant and spicy. Well balanced and complex. Soft and smooth.

Good right out of the bottle, and good by itself or with food. Will pair nicely with fresh seafood.

A blend of 73% Sauvignon Blanc, 12% Sauvignon Gris and 15% Sémillon. Aged for 7 months in (40% new) French Oak barrels.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$40.

Château Lalande-Borie

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

Well stored bottle, No problems whatsoever Dark web info, Chateau Lalande Borie is a relatively new estate in the Medoc. The vineyard was initially created when the Borie family purchased 18 hectares of vines from Chateau Lagrange in 1970. To that, they added 12 more hectares of vines from various other growers, some of which needed planting.

Things changed with the 2018 vintage when the estate was renamed Le Petit Ducru.

Chateau Lalande Borie Vineyards, Terroir, Grapes, Winemaking

The 25-hectare, Left Bank vineyard is planted to 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc. The vineyard has a terroir of gravel and clay soils. The clay in the soil is part of the reason that today, you find more Merlot in the vineyard. Previously the Cabernet Sauvignon occupied 65% of the vineyard makeup.

The vineyard is well placed in the western part of the St. Julien appellation. It is situated inland, not too far from Chateau Lagrange, Chateau Talbot, and Chateau Gruaud Larose. The vineyard is planted to a vine density of 8,500 vines per hectare.

Château La Grange

Saint Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

1990 vintage. Bottom neck fill. Excellent cork. Decanted with appropriate sed. Slightly darker color than all the 1990 BDX I've tasted in the last year. Initial, slight funk on the nose that dissipated rapidly. Tasted immediately after decant, 1 hour and 2 hours later. Started softly but then brought out that big, Lagrange stick. Cedar, smoke, plum, leather, mercury, distilled dark cherry, summer pond mud. Displayed better balance throughout than expected with good staying power. Based on this excellent sample, will be shopping for more. Could hold in this spot for another half-decade before recalibrating. 12.5.25. — 5 months ago

Les Fleurs du Lac

White Bordeaux Blend 2021

Another delicious rendition of the “Chateau Lagrange Blanc.” Beautiful fragrance seemingly melds a little herbal, gooseberryish SB with characteristic lanolin and orchard fruit Semillon notes (I have no idea what the blend is here.) Deep, lovely, soft minerality too. Impeccable balance in the mouth. Nice but gentle acids keep the deep, long, dry palate fresh. Such a great value too. — 9 months ago

@Tom Casagrande, the 2021 was apparently 80% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Sauvignon Gris — yet the Lagrange webpage discusses picking the “Semillon” — so, is Sauvignon Gris the same as Semillon in Bordeaux?? I don’t know.

I guess they didn’t end up putting the Semillon in the blend. Sauvignon Gris is a different grape. I’ve had some Sauvignon Gris from the Loire. Nice grape!
