The basic Pinot offering from Wittmann. This beats out lots of entry level stuff from France and the US imo, and is far cheaper. I think German Pinot is where the best qpr is for me right now. Raspberry, cherry, violets, forest floor on the nose; more cherry and raspberry on the palate; cranberry also; good balance of acidity, fruit, and tannin; decent length. A balanced wine if not overly complex. — 2 months ago
A unique wine. Vibrant golden hue, reductive aroma combined with a variety of ripe orchard fruits, saline breeze, pineapple, wet stone. Palate with high acidity, a lingering tannic grip, stony minerality, apple, pear, fresh almonds. I drink the current vintage (which happens to be 2012 this year) with my wife once per year, and have for the last 5 years. Nostalgic. — 20 days ago
Small red berries, earth, licorice, small amount of spice on the nose; small red berries, leaf litter, spice, medium tannin, high acidity on the palate; makes the fruit seem a bit sour and a bit out of balance. Decently long finish. For a basic Bourgogne rouge it is a decent enough wine, however for 54 dollars in my market it is hardly a bargain. If I factored in price I’d probably rate 8.6. — 2 months ago
Everything I love about Burgundy. Light bodied with intensely perfumed cherry, raspberries, spice, earth, acidity; grip. Tannins and acidity should mellow with some age. It’s got it all. Continues to evolve with more air and the fruit seems to get sweeter. What a great wine. @Lyle Fass — a month ago
2023 Dr. Loosen Erdener Prälat Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel. On the nose honey, and tropical fruit: guava papaya, hint of spice; almost white pepper; tangerine, jasmine. On the palate, good concentration; honey more beautifully ripe mango (almost like a creamy mango lassi), tangerine, very nice apricots; slate minerality; a spine of acidity balances all the ripe fruit. The fruit quality shines here so I don’t feel bad drinking this young. — 2 months ago

When initially opened, it was tight and I was hit in the face with tannin and acidity; obviously too young, decanted 1.5 hours and opened with aromas of licorice, anise, dried red flowers, tar, red berries. Palate evolved over 2.5 hours. Licorice, dried strawberry, forest floor, cranberry; still high acidity and tannin. Excellent wine, and has that sweet fruit profile absent of any residual sugar, which is always fascinating to me; blows lots of 60 dollar Barolo and barbaresco out of the water; I would let rest until at least 2027, and at that point I would expect a stunner. @Lyle Fass — 3 days ago
