Fiamme Antiche Inferno Valtellina Superiore Nebbiolo

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of three days. Best on Day 1 and 2. The 2017 Inferno, Fiamme Antiche pours a deep garnet color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe and tart fruit: Morello cherry, roses, espresso, leather, alpine herbs and granitic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Elegant and ever so lovely. Drink now through 2037. Only 6,206 bottles produced.

Gorgeous. 17’s here are really developing nicely. Spice, red cherrie, soppy ripe red cherries but not over the top. Restrained ripeness. Loads of tar and hot concrete. Palate is so elegant with loads of ripe cherry fruit, spice and wonderful freshness and ripe, juicy tannins. Outstanding length. Satiny texture.

Another 2017 Arpepe winner. Stunning nose. Classic Nebbiolo. Stunning. Aromas of rose petals, tar, some earth, but dried earth, leather and just so deep and so good. Classic. Like MGM classic. Wow. Palate is a dream. Succulent and supple with just insane juiciness and balance. Pure. All red fruit and just perfect balance and sweetness. Sappy and long. And my goodness is this elegant. Maybe the most elegant non riserva I’ve had from ar pe pe. Genius wine. Utter beauty.

Quite simply one of the best Nebbiolo’s I have ever had. The nose is explosive; super fragrant rose petal, dried strawberry, some cranberry, various crunchy red fruits. Tar, leather, forest floor, porcini mushroom, leather. Palate with concentrated dried strawberry, cranberry, soft tannins, dried fruit, integrated acidity, no alcoholic heat, lengthy finish. Complex. Most ratings I have seen are in the 89-93 range; for me this is much higher, and in the perfect place for consumption as it has a great balance of primary fruit and tertiary aged character.

Nose. Savory. Deep cherry. Pine

Palate: such gorgeous cherry fruit.

So great.

Nose: lovely. Sweet pink roses.

Palate: sweet roses. Hint of early season cherry. Delicious.

Having this with fish. A perfect wine with good food.

Ticks all the boxes. Intensely perfumed, tars, tobacco, leather, red/brown fruits, earth.
The Palate rewards with a luscious mouthfeel that’s neither heavy nor light, finishes long, lots of earth and mineral.
The wines are so rewarding.

ベースのワインが程よい緩さのワインだったのだが、こちらは小梅的なクリスプな酸。
イルグエルチオ2019に、ちょい熟成感みたいな。ヴァルテリーナはやっぱり良いかも。
