Sick nose. Red cherries, strawberries, so floral. Just insane. Like a whisper being shouted: Some mulch and wet earth. Watermelon. Cranberry. Pastille. Red fruited. Lilacs. Minerals. This is insane. Juicy and clean with some wood but achingly gorgeous palate. So juicy and young but unreal finesse and a loose texture. So clean and pure. Unreal texture. Will track. Best red fruited nose maybe ever. The mineral energy is off the charts. Sweet red fruitiness. Stunning. After 7 hours open the nose has integrated into an orb of roses, florals and strawberry all equal. Palate is integrated between mineral and fruit with just the most stunning velvety tannins. Just a gorgeous nose. Sweet, ripe but never treacly cherries. Mid season. Birthday cake. Cranberry skin. Poised and detailed. Wow this is a 9.6 nose. So nimble yet expressive. Huge finesse and refinement and that classic 21 achy beauty. My goodness this is so elegant. Barely any tannin and needs some time to develop but this is very fine. Palate is complex and so fine. Juicy and so clean. Unreal pitter patter of a finish. — a day ago

Aux Thorey Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2023
Nose is a 10. Unreal. Blackberry flower. Bee pollen. Sweet limestone. Purple fruits. That’s the best nose on any NSG ever. Wow. Just magic. Almost an 11. Sweet cherries are just insane. The palate is just insane. Painful minerality but gentle and so intense. Wow. So balanced and pure. The tannins are NSG but clear and ripe. Violets starting to peek out. Opulent mid palate and follows with almost a granitic energy. Almost Red Rieslingesque. Mid season cherry, darker red cherry, complex and mineral. Yes this is a 10. Yowza. After 7 hours this hasn’t lost a thing and is gaining in sweetness, tannin and elegance. Unreal.
On day 2 this wine is a problem. It’s the closest I have had to La Tache that isn’t La Tache. It’s actually even more elegant. And the spice on the nose is just next level. Beyond. Honeyed. So complex you cannot believe it. It’s the most insane thing. It’s just so high quality and pleasurable. Layered fruit. Layered spice. Waves. All so detailed and perfumed. This a benchmark for me. This is also giving Leroy with the aromatic depth. The palate is just exquisitely weightless and sweet but never vulgar. It’s opulent and sweet but whispering. The whispering only Burgundy can do. It’s got the finest tannins. So fresh and deep. Will age 20 years. Just a masterpiece. Totally blown away. — 4 days ago

Wonderful rich texture and just the right amount of chewy. Dense and packed but so sleek and refined. The purity is stunning. Aromas of wet earth now and sweet oak. Always so beautiful. Like Volnay through the prism of Nebbiolo. Dried roses, cherry, dead leaves, spice, chestnut and wild mint. Gorgeous. Palate is so supple and juicy. Clean and pure. Huge expressive nose of milk duds, watermelon jolly rancher, sour cherries, dark cherries, lemon flower? Earth and mineral and stunning aromatic lift but is holding something back. Wow that’s kinky with unreal concentration and tiny berry fruit intensity. More complex. Darker red cherries, strawberry jam. It’s the texture, it’s the tannins, it’s the perfectly judged acidity. Woodshop aromas. The sweetness is so insane. It’s so elegant. The tannins are late breaking and fierce but sweet and pearly. — 4 days ago

Nose is minty and spicey. Palate is deep and rich with terrific mineral spine and wonderful structure. Ripe but substantial tannin. Nose has notes of ripe plum, peanuts and a saline element. Really good energy and depth. Not the most elegant wine but this has tremendous material and its own grace and charm. This needs air but I really like it. — 3 hours ago
