Tonight I have opened the 2005 Chateau Larrivaux. 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot.
The aromas are of black currant, blackberry, licorice, spice, and minerality.
The palate gives notes of black cherry, plum blackberry, spices, black pepper and minerality.
There is medium acidity, medium + sandy tannins with a medium mouth feel and medium finish. Not a bad wine for its age. With its good acidity and tannins has at least several more years.

May 29th, 2016Very subbed , black licorice , tobacco up front, lacking fruit on initial palate, heavy on fine tannins , cigar like finish. Lack of experience with this producer closed down or bad bottle?
