Intense. Iodine, inky blue fruit, ferrous, dark plum, blood. A real brooding beast of real quality. The finish is really long, savory and memorable.

A nose of pure cassis permeated by light cigar and graphite. Lighter weight than my limited recollection of aged Latours, it was nonetheless ethereal. Young. Blackberry and black-currant jam, lightly cedary minerality. Hints of red meat that made it a perfect match for rib steaks sous vide. Superb!

I was not blessed with the greatest birth vintage for Bordeaux (1991), but luckily my dear friend fared better (1989). Red currant, raspberry coulis, cedar, and graphite - the wine is still so fleshy, round and clean, nowhere near as tertiary as I'd expected going into the evening. It's structured, but also rather open knit after a quick decant. I hope to taste this Latour again in the coming years - as I believe it has many stories yet to tell. A special wine shared with even better company - there are worse ways to spend a Tuesday night.

1989 - perfect example- why you by at birth and leave it Un disturbed for 26 years. The oak is just beginning to integrate , but definitely perfect balance. Would benefit from time, but exquisite . Will improve and then last 30 plus years- enamored

Really nice length and grip. Still a bit tight, especially on the nose. Well balanced, which I like.
