Medium concentration of ruby color - kinda dull. Clove, ashtray, cigar box, minerality, mushroom, forest floor, tart red raspberry and pomegranate. Spearmint. Medium finish, medium acidity, med+ tannins definitely not integrated yet very grippy.

Tonight I have opened the 2016 Château Rauzan-Ségla. A beautiful left bank Bordeaux from Margaux made up of a blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot.

On the nose there is black cherry, raspberry, plum, black currant, chocolate, herbs, violets, graphite and wet rich earth.

On the palate I am getting cherry, raspberry, red plum, green bell pepper, cassis, herbs, graphite and earth.

This beautifully complex full bodied wine has a smooth satin mouthfeel with medium + acidity and medium + fine grained tannins that seamlessly moves to a long good fruit/graphite finish. This is one wine you can get very excited about and enjoy having on any occasion and for many years to come. Have a great rest of your weekend and be safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷

This is the first one that’s a little tight and more weighty. This will take time to balance, interstate and flush out. It has nice dark cherries, blackberries, good presence of baking spices, dark, dry earth. Nice acidity and finish. But, this needs cellaring.

Drank 1/18/19 at the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux event in Miami.  All wines from the 2016 Vintage.

Tasting pour, no formal notes taken.  Most of these wines are very tight, and will require 5-15 years to really come together.  Many will likely improve a few points with time.

My favorite Margaux of the night, and one of the best wines poured in my opinion. Loads of dark fruit, with lots of complexity. A very pleasant surprise.

Wow this was smooth. Small ripe berries and silky mouthfeel...so well balanced. 2016 Margaux wines are just so good!

Been waiting a while to try this. Didn’t disappoint. Can’t wait to try one in about 10 years. 4/18/23

Wow. A lot going on here and subtly so. Black fruit, plums, tea, rose petals and orange. Medium bodied and very gentle multifaceted tannins on the palate, with equally delicate but definite minerality. Full finish extending this all with grace. Very elegant.
