Château Recougne
Bordeaux Supérieur Carménère
Just discovered 2014 as a wine to keep at home if you like Smooth, low tannin, soft Bordeaux. I drank it May 2017 and it could stand 5yr or more waiting. Need to air 40-50min. Wonderful with medium rare steak. Plant get more and wait to "ripen".

1 person found it helpfulMay 15th, 2017Smells like male muskiness, which wasn't unpleasant. But it tastes salty! Thin and salty. (Realized it's green pepper I'm tasting.) Awful. 78% Merlot, 12% Cab Franc, 10% Cab Sauv

Oct 22nd, 2017Supposed to be paired with steak. I drank a glass without food and found it nice for sipping, taking my time. Not earthy like my usual faves. More mellow aroma and taste, well balanced.

Jul 23rd, 2017Drank over an hour, including with a southwestern-styled dinner. As it sat it greatly improved. It could have benefited from decanting or further aging, but beautiful at the moment all the same. Intensely drying at first, with strong tannins that dominated at fruit or floral notes. After some time, bright cherry pushed to the surface, with blackberry notes, some oak character. Beautiful and worth a second try.
