Opens with quite the attractive aromatic set of cassis, espresso, cigar box, vanilla, and pencil shavings (heavy on the graphite). What makes this special, though, is the earthy truffle undertone that dances on the edge. Intensely rich on the palate, but balanced by its buoyant acidity. I'm not sure if the finish was short or if I just kept wanting more, but for a Cru Bourgeois this exceeds all expectations.
