Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend

Another Wednesday Wine Committee for the books, this one in honor of a former WWC member, with the wines donates from his cellar by his family. A wonderful tribute. Wines tasted blind as usual.

I’m really starting to enjoy these wines. I guessed mid-late ‘80s Bordeaux. Drinking well with leather, old cherry tobacco, and an herbal spice. Great structure here. No sign of decline.

Pretty much done, but eminently drinkable.

Very good. Classic Bordeaux.

Musty cedar and tobacco nose rich generous plummy flavor with hints of spice and soft tannin. Somewhat short finish.

Dark and brooding, old foudres, barnyard, dark chocolate, ink.
Low acidity, still very convincing and vivacious. Dark macerated fruit, soft and plush, cigars, rum-and-raisins, coffee and chocolate on the palate.
A wonderful surprise.

Some alcohol, a bit closed, black cherry, chocolate and ink. Metallic. Mon cheri. Low acidity, modern style. Kept us guessing for quite a while. Great surprise after the demasqué!

Cassis, chêne fumé avec tannins equilibrés

Rounded tannins with a mellow finish. A definite food wine.
