Château Sociando Mallet

Château Sociando-Mallet

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

Dark and brooding, plenty of wet earth and graphite. Dark red fruit on the nose and palate, more extracted than I’d guess from an HM, masculine with an alluring dark herbal streak. Kept going back to this. Will get better for 3-5 years still, lots of power to spare. — 25 days ago

Château Sociando-Mallet

La Demoiselle de Sociando-Mallet Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2017

Haut-Medoc Merlot Blend 2018

Vintage 2018 | Often Sociando Mallet really needs time. 2018 is gorgeous now. Plums, blackberries, hint of raspberries, great balance. Good acidity. Amazing soft tannins. What a wine! — 2 months ago

Château Moulin De Mallet

Bordeaux Supérieur 2020

NOSE: cooked meat, tree bark, elderberry, tobacco.

TASTE: cassis, espresso, bitter wood. It’s simple Bordeaux without overt flaws. Could use age - but amazing deal for the $7 I paid. I think … barely 90.

Château Pontoise Cabarrus Cru Bourgeois 2018

Literally just a short hop west of Sociando Mallet, a great Bordeaux I’ve bought and cellared since the great 1982, this is an 85% CS/15% M Haut-Medoc that is quite fine, definitely shows a solid tannic backbone, lovely fruit, medium-long finish, I’d guess 7-10 years easily of further development, only troubling thing for me is the 14.5% ABV, but lovely wine nonetheless. — 2 years ago

Emilio Moro

Malleoulus 2021

Founded by Emilio Moro, born in Pesquera de Duero. Wine made from vineyard grapes, 25 & 75 years old, from Camino Viejo estate. Malleolus is a Latin word meaning “small hammer or mallet” used in planting & “majuelo” Spanish for “young vine” a traditional way of referring to a vineyard in Pesquera del Duero. Deep Ruby color with aromas of berry fruit, espresso & cedar notes. Flavors of blackberry & cherry with vanilla spice, ripe tannins starting to soften. Well balanced, complex, long earthy finish. Nice! Will age! — 2 months ago
