Blackberry Brambles and eucalyptus groves all up in my nose.

A touch of prune, weighty heft, dark and deep fruits, thinking of the usual cab stuff here - Blackberry, morello cherry, dark raspberry, a solid wine. Big, bold, lovely eucalyptus is part of the finish. After 11 years, this wine has settled in.

This is a big, extracted wine, but not flabby. Think male ballerina. Dark fruits, bright acidity. @garagiste purchase

There is an intriguing story behind this label—Angela winery is owned by South African couple Antony and Angela Beck, who also happen to own Graham Beck. The couple reside in Kentucky where they focus on thoroughbred horses. Corinthian is named after one of their champions and this luscious Rutherford Cab was vinified at Opus One. No surprise that it is pure hedonism in the glass. Glossy plums, black currants and graphite notes meld into a wine framed by ripe, silky tannins and liberally dusted in mocha, espresso powder and plump blue fruit. 15.5% ABV

Big brambly black and blue fruits with tobacco and eucalyptus. Almost reminds me of a Mollydooker wine especially with the 15.3 abv.

So this is part of the garagiste mystery Rutherford. This is insanely superior to the afleet Alex. I would have pegged this as Rutherford dust, cigar box, tons of dried fruits, sweet maraschino cherries, vanilla, tar, basically classic Napa ala chimney rock or whomever in that region. Lovely as a change of pace.

Black fruit, green pepper, Italian herbs, and cigar box. Pnp, Needs more time or a decant. High abv at 15.3%

Garagiste mystery meat. Under $20 for something that apparently retailed for above $50. At this price with 10 years of age, great “find”!
