Cruz Alta
Reserve Mendoza Chardonnay
Second of the blind Chardonnays for this quarter's S&E Wine Club. Theme was Chardonnays for white wine and red wines you can purchase at grocery stores.
Pale yellow. A touch of hay and dirty on the start of the nose. Quite a bit of stone fruits, a touch creamy and minerality in the finish. Medium plus acidity (6.5/10) and light bodied. Seems to have only a touch of new oak on the palate (came through a lot more on day two). Layers of peaches, lemon and stone throughout. Medium plus finish. Drink till 2021.

Apr 10th, 2017Had this tonight on the patio as the sun set. Surprised at the "buttery" reviews as I got little of that. In general, the flavors were subtle. Plenty drinkable, even enjoyable, but nothing exciting. I actually liked my 2nd glass better, after I had set the bottle on ice for 20 mins.

Apr 7th, 20172015v. Pale gold. Yellow apple, a hint of banana and vanilla nilla wafers on the nose. On the palette, there's fresh fruit of yellow apple, bosc pear, pineapple, and occasionally banana- depending on what you are eating while drinking. Dry on the palette with a slight bitterness, despite the fruitiness. Decent acidity and a little butter carry the finish. For under $10, you'd be hard pressed to get a chard from CA that is this balanced and pleasant to drink. For an oak bomb, look elsewhere. 13% ABV.
