1 person found it helpfulDec 10th, 2016Kind of a intense nose with caramel, sweet condensed milk, dried red & dark berries and a bit of leather. Interesting at first but gets tiring after the fifth sniff. Good acidity & power, a bit spicy and definitely armed with a big portion American oak. Still very young, would be nice to see how this boy develops in 10-20 years.

Mar 17th, 2017Classic, still youthful notes and palate intensity, but maturity is settling in with more secondary notes that come with age like leather and forest floor. Fantastic and very enjoyable bottle of wine.

Sep 18th, 2013Very solid Rioja Gran Reserva. 2001 vintage. Well-cellared for the last seven years. A lot of old oak on the nose with some new oak, giving it some vanilla notes on the nose but not excessive. Black cherry and leather on the nose and palate as well. Good spice, cedar, tobacco and some hints of coffee. Palate more geared to dried cherries, nice structure of tannins and a touch of orange. Deep red color. Not translucent. Fairly high in ABV: 13.5%.
