Viña do Burato Ribeira Sacra Mencía

2014 vintage. This had great dark fruit and spice. Some oak and some lingering tannins. I'd love o try more bottles from here.

I can see why Mencía used to get confused with Cabernet Franc: herbaceous, with slightly underripe tannins, raspberries, and pencil shavings.

Interesting plastic notes that went really well with the bread and butter pickles we put on our super mega delicious burgers made with lamb, pork, and buffalo. We thought the usual Beaujolais would not cover it and this wine was particularly good with them 13% alcohol made it nice and food friendly. Some floral notes and lovely red currants and not a lot of oak at all.

Much better than the 2013. Cleaner on the nose.

My favorite red! Can drink it anytime.

Ahhh!! Mencia. Good dose of pepper. Reminds me of gamay at its most spicy. Really liking this juice.
