Delas Frères
Domaine des Grands Chemins Crozes-Hermitage Syrah
Great value. Polished, more elegantly-styled CH, clear fruit nuanced by N. Rhône character. Showing well at 8 years. Mulberry and plum, tobacco, sweet meat, pepper, forest floor, licorice. A salty/savory point to its meatiness, almost sweaty. Like the focus the bottle age has brought, tannins are fine, its mineral character is showing through.

Oct 2nd, 2018Very serious Crozes sporting intense smoky bacon and sausage right up front. There’s almost a pepperoni type note to this wine- intensely meaty, smoky and savory. Violets showing up on the nose with air. Juicy blackberry on the entry and finishing with freshly cracked black pepper. For me this is what Crozes Hermitage can and should be in terms of quality. Perhaps too sweaty and savory for most, but a serious wine that is drinking great now and will do so for another 5-7 years.

Apr 25th, 2015Called it a "pepper-bomb." Like, if someone were grinding a pepper mill into your nose. Blue/purple fruit is subtle, acidity lacking. Revisited next day--totally oxidized and falling apart. Usually enjoy this producer...don't really understand C-H.

Apr 23rd, 2015Beautiful C-H. More peppery than meaty. Pretty underlying blue fruits. Wish this could be my house red.

Sep 22nd, 2014A little tight at first, but opened up after decanting. Has the nose of ripe fruits and then finishes with a little bit of old world funk. Very nice wine.

Sep 8th, 2017Reliable excellent Rhône Syrah. Paired especially well with delicious ribeye (also smoked duck bacon campanelle). Fun meal with Sophie, Hannah, and Andrea!
