The 2016 Ramitello shows a dark, floral and alluring bouquet of crushed violets, blackberries, vanilla bean and hints of animal. Velvety in texture yet lifted in feel, the 2016 leans toward the savory spectrum. Brisk acids maintain energy as fine tannins slowly mount. $19.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2021)

Flavor was solid, texturally I didn't love it. 85% Montepulciano 15% Aglianico.

I have never tried a wine from Molise before. On the Adriatic coast east of Naples and a little north of Bari, I had no idea what to expect. This 85% Montepulciano and 15% Aglianico blend is robust. But somehow shows a bit of lightness and salty sea breeze. Dark cherry, plum, spice. Very good with food. You could drink this wine every day and never grow tired of it.
