Dark brooding color, opaque with lighter rims. Tight nose, hard to get a read. Notes of red fruit and raspberries, kirsch, cola and some ash comes on later. Nicely made juice, it’s well balanced. While it opened up some over the night, it was tough to get a read on this. I could only come up with mid 90s Napa Cab. Still, this is a wine lover’s wine and our ribeyes went well with this and the other bottles tonight.

Held up beautifully with rich loamy wood and hints of chocolate and dark plum.

From 375 ml bottle...good things can come in small packages.

Double decant and pour. A still dark purplish garnet color with some bricking(decent chunky/fine sediment). On the nose: subtle brooding notes of dark fruit, currants, wet forest floor, worn leather, smokey grilled meat. Taste: creamy, elegant, balanced, savory wine with some dark cherry, earth, dark chocolate, cedar, tobacco, and a cocoa dried herb medium plus finish. YUM!

Pretty closed early but opening up after 15-20 minutes. The dry tannins have gone away - very elegant wine to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary.

Paired with A5 Wagyu Striploin roast. Wine is very balanced and has a lot of life left.

Opened first bottle of mixed case to celebrate anniversary for 3rd decade (cheated a bit as this was 29 years with wonderful bride Kim. Lots of dark fruit with just a touch of tannic finish. We visited Al on our honeymoon to pass muster before he sold a case futures. Quite a character! btw, Groth & Girard were Cans for first 2 decades.
