Didier Dagueneau
Pouilly-Fumé Sauvignon Blanc
What a treat to get to try this - some funk on the nose, but on the palate tart citrus and saline dominate. Get ready to pucker up - the acidity in this is intense. Knowledgeable Somm who shared that this was aged in Burgundian oak barrels (vs Loire) and that this was the last vintage made by Didier before he passed and his son took over. I understand why he had such a cult following.

Sep 27th, 2017Born in the Nievre, where Burgundy meets the Loire Valley, Didier was the fourth generation in a family of winegrowers. Pale straw with white stone fruit aromas and floral notes. On the palate ripe peach and pear flavors fuse with chalky wet stone and citrus zest, energetic acidity. Long finish ending with mineral tones and underlying creaminess. Tasting Sample.
