New grape (Pineau d'Aunis) and a new wine, really cool stuff. A cousin of Cabernet Franc, the traits are similar but the wine is more feminine, more transparent to the terroir. Red cherries, crushed rocks, tobacco leaf, cracked white pepper, tense minerality, fresh acidity a medium grain tannin. #loire #PineaudAunis

Superb aroma off of this. Nothing like the heavy reds I drink but so damn complex and interesting

Opened at the beginning of the meal and the weight and complexity picked up throughout. Classic red apple and nut shells. This was the best with, believe it or not, salted date ice cream with pistachios.
