Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru Pinot Noir

Crisp clarity, incredible precision through a blanket of superfine tannins drenched in red cherry, subtle minerality and black fruit. Lingered for minutes.

The infamous 2005 vintage. A vintage that will yield terrific wines but often are still, today, closed and ungiving. This 05 Lambrays is a huge wine with serious structure. It did open up nicely after a lengthy decant. Shows intensity, richness, high acidity and a backbone of power. Ripe black and blue fruits, a bouquet of red flowers, minerals, hints of roasted herbs and sous bois. Tannins remain firm. Lots of midpalate depth and a long and concentrated finish. 05’s are for the grandchildren.

Rose, cherry, hint of earth and dust. Very comfortable to drink, medium+ finish.

2005 vintage.
Rich black cherries, cocoa spice, orange peel, dark flowers, subois and earthy.
Long generous finish with crisp acidity and fine grained tannins.
This was bequeathed to me years ago at a Celebration of Life for a gentleman who was greatly influential and guiding on my wine journey.
A stunning wine from an incredible individual.

Great upside but unyielding at the moment

What was lacking in aromatics came through on the palate. So pretty and light on its feet.
