Jour de Soif Bourgueil Cabernet Franc
The 2018 Bourgueil Jour de Soif (Cabernet Franc) is bold, pungent and racy. I very much like the energy here. Inky dark fruit, savory herbs, lavender and cloves give this dark, powerful Bourgeuil so much character. In the glass, the 2018 is dense and full of personality, not to mention incredibly delicious. This is a terrific effort from Pierre Gauthier. Best of all, it is a tremendous value. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2020)

Oct 2nd, 2020Borgueils are creeping up in alcohol, as I remember this as a lighter affair in previous vintages. Still, a precocious 14$ wine, with classic cab franc dimensions but now with a thicker, richer mouthfeel. Given how Beaujo has crossed the 20$ demarcation border for some time, my go to summer mid week choice.

Aug 15th, 2020Bright and lively, offering aromas of pepper and smoke and flavors of fresh cherry and red berry, with some underlying herbal notes. Enjoyable, gulpable, glou-glou. Aged 6–8 months in stainless steel and bottled unfiltered. (Jason Wilson, Vinous, July 2020)

One of the higher alcohol Loire cab franc’s I’ve had but still feels medium bodied. Good dirt on the initial palette. Overall good value at <$20.

May 10th, 2020Smells: Wood stove smoke, something nutty / red meat
Tastes: makes me think of a really good deli sandwich, good bread with a healthy portion of meaty-ness,
