Reddish tawny, brighter than the Roumier sibling next to it. Odd nose which had some people guessing Italian. Turns out all this needed (like the 93 Roumier BM next to it) was a lot of air. Notes of bright red fruit, sandalwood and Asian spice came on later in the evening. Has a long life in front of it, but great to compare/contrast this and the Roumier side by side tonight. (Bday 8 of 13)

'93 Bonnes Mares, Dujac (375 ml) is a revelation...perfectly evolved Pinot yet a '93 with considerably more finesse than other, more-highly touted years like '90 & '96 although with very high-toned acidity in the core...without sounding like a typical spoiled-brat wine taster, Burgundy of this quality at this price in a restaurant is in absurdly short supply!

Good stuff. Again sort of weird to be in a flight but whatever, dujac. Super dark, spicy savoury goodness. Deep dark murky earthy minerality but again big push of fruit. Wicked good. A real treat.

1993 Domaine Dujac Bonnes-Mares PN. Lunch at house- opened when JC and his friends showed up. Drank this in comp to 1993 Domaine G. Roumier Bonnes-Mares. This took a while to open up and lacked the subtlety of the Roumier- though not to say this wine was not enjoyable. We all agreed that this was just not a fair comp. Once the Dujac opened up, it was enjoyable to drink.
