Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Pinot Noir

Bottle was a bit off.

Poised and fruit forward. In its primary stage with supple upfront ripe fruit, grip and plenty of stuffing, reflective of the warm and dry 2009 vintage. Still manages to be elegant...Long lived!

I will start with I was impatient and didn’t decant and consumed within 2 hours. So I didn’t really give this a fair chance to broaden. It was nonetheless very enjoyable but definitely muted. Lots of earth and depth. Fruit is buried but perhaps if I had been more accommodating it would have emerged more boldly. Solid old world PN.

Smokey and resonant. This was a mature joy. Lots of complexity with the fruit. Color was a nice darker red.

Complex and focused. Cherry and flowers and fantastic structure. This is a mature wine and a wise old world wine. Opened up after first hour. No decant. Looking forward to the next bottle.

Un peu de vendanges entières au nez, fruits noirs, intense mais avec fraicheur et beaucoup de classe, magnifique. 93-94

Clearly whole clusters when tasting blind, dark fruit, intense but with freshness, classy and long, great.

2009. Almost deep ruby. On the nose, concentrated sweet cherries and mushroom. Appetizing acidity and tannins with a bit more chew. Detectable oak influence. 

Killed a baby. Great stuffing bit needs a decade. Great pure fruit.
