Domaine Georges Roumier
Chambolle-Musigny Pinot Noir
Intense and muscular, nothing subtle about 2017. Very good depth for village and it continues to gain complexity and show some layers as it unfurls. Lots of tension and finesse showing black raspberries, pomegranate, crushed minerals and hints of topsoil. Finishes with very good length and lift. When you talk about village red wines that set themselves apart you think Fourrier’s Gevrey, Mugneret Gibourg’s VR (of course CLB too), and then there is Roumier’s Chambolle. Great now and even better later ❤️

Oct 14th, 2020Forgot how big and dense this wine is. Almost grand cru levels of concentration. Dark berries, stemmy spice.

Mar 9th, 2024Night two of extravagant eating and drinking in Vermont. Rich and muscularity. Great purity of dark fruit. Earth with ripe tannins.

Oct 11th, 2021Young but why wait when it is this good? Top 1er cru quality. A little shy on the nose, but palate is incredible. Super pure fruit with raspberry and cherries. Tannins are velvet. Great lift and length on the finish.

A village wine that is up in quality with 1er crus and its price is a testament to that lol....besides the price this wine has so much concentration that it is currently in a confused state and has too much power. It needs a good 5 to 7 years before this begins to show its real pedigree.
