Amazing pair with black cherries & vinaigrette salad.

Henri does it right & 2009 was not a terrible vintage.

The fruit and acidity are quite perfect to pair together.

She is still an adolescent...nonetheless quite beautiful. The palate is; round, lush, ruby & gorgeous. Dark cassis, blackberries, dark cherries, ruby, black raspberries black plum with little skin. It’s a deeper extraction for Burgundy. Dark spice, cinnamon stick, moist, forest floor, clove, pronounced nutmeg, vanillin, maple syrup notes, dry, dark fruits, dry twig, tree with sap, dark, sweet tarriness, high notes of black pepper, anise to black licorice, dry crushed rocks, river stone with fresh, limestone, dry, crushed rocks, savory, gravy meats, cooked, fresh herbs, touch of eucalyptus, slightly withering & candied florals that are; dark, red, blue & purple haze set in lavender & Provence violets. The acidity is lively and like a rushing, fresh river. The finish is; lush, ruby, candied, round, gorgeous, elegant, well balanced with smart polish for days.

One of the outstanding Red Burgundies I’ve had all year.

Plenty of life left in this 09...another 10-15 years.

Rich, dark, lots of weight, quite dramatic for a Volnay. Wait 3 to 5 years.

Very very Good. Classy, muscular Text book Volnay. Better than the Fremiet. From the Henri Boillot Dinner at Phillipe Restaurant ( which was brilliant) in Melbourne back in December 2017.

Love the nose on this wine. Black plum, dark cherries, tarry notes, perfumed dark floral and sweet Asian spices. The wine is well extracted. It's thick and rich on the palate. The fruits are simultaneously; sweet, sour & tart. Black plum, dark cherries, black raspberry & strawberry preserves, presence of cherry Luden's cough drops, used dark roasted coffee grounds, black tea, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, vanilla, dark florals, toast, slight tarry quality, menthol, black licorice anise, rich, warm, moist turned black earth, very soft & fine limestone minerals, there is a sawdust quality on the mid tongue. The acidity pours over your palate. The structure and length are softening but it's still fairly meaty and the balance of earth and fruit are nearly perfect. The finish is big, round & very elegant. It's not a baby but more of an adolescent. Many years left in this 09...15 plus. Henri Boillot is such a quality producer of Burgundy and I certainly appreciate much of his craft.
