Domaine Jean-Louis Chave
Farconnet Hermitage Syrah
Sneaky ripe for an Hermitage. A lot of fruit right out of the gate, but as it warms/breathes...The classic tar, meat and leather starts to emerge. What a wine

Jun 14th, 2017A Syrah/Shiraz night. Elegant smoke and hint of cigar tobacco on the nose. Great legs on this one. With mouthfeel to match. Well rounded and juicy with a hint of acidity on the finish - which goes on and on. A lovely supper for a cool spring evening.

Apr 17th, 2021Olives on nose, faint red berries, mild tannins, lingering floral. Had with porterhouse with compound butter and wedge.

Jun 30th, 2019Excellent Northern Rhône Syrah. Great balance of aromas and flavors. Cherry fruit that is encompassed by tar, meat and leather. A little bit of peppery spice. Great vintage of a historically great wine from a historically great producer.

Apr 21st, 2019Young tasting Syrah, oaky & spicy. Dark, sour fruit, with a meaty tinge.

Nov 5th, 2016A good wine but didn't blow me away like other JL Chave wines I have had. Dark ruby color, dark fruit and bubble gum on the nose. Spicy and a bit tart with a long finish. Paired with mole verde burrito and beans (maybe not the best pairing).
