Les Champs Fulliots Monthelie 1er Cru Chardonnay

This was better in its youth in that it’s lost some energy and the oak has not aged out of it. It’s fresh and nice but it didn’t hold up that well.

Killer stuff. Nose of lemon and mineral. A bit cold out of the gates. Palate is dynamite. Precise and energetic. Rich and ample with terrific energy and spine. Great structure. This is a terrific site for red and white Monthelie. Chewy, dense and super pure. Awesome texture and so juicy.

This got much better overnight. 9.2 to 9.3. More integrated and sappy.

Day 2 notes.

Mineral, Smokey, hit of wood, lime pith, white flowers, lovely, round and ripe with lovely freshness and depth. Long. Complex and opulent with a wonderful purity and freshness. Loads of apple and pear fruit. Could use even a few years. Remarkable for being open 23 hours.

Much better day two... fairly broad, citrus, somewhat saline, pear, flint 😋
