Beautiful and oily and bright. Lime and stone and glossy rich fruit. Salinity and real depth. Delicious — 6 days ago
Stunner. Mature white burg at its finest from 02 Charmes, still incredibly youthful and vibrant with captivating aromatics of spiced orchard fruit, toasted hazelnuts and butterscotch that comes in waves, and the palate is expansive, textural and stunningly complex, both rich and refined with a silky, crystalline and mineral finish. Amazing wine. — 15 days ago

Brought to a dinner with some guests visiting from Piemonte. The 2008 “Taillepieds” pours a deep ruby with a translucent core; medium viscosity with no obvious staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with tart and slightly underripe strawberry, cherry, mushrooms, red flowers, varnish (yeah, there’s some VA) stony earth and delicate baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin, medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The body is fit and the finish is long and full of energy. This is a really attractive beauty; the sort that you might feel compelled to apologize to for gawking. And, while I found this to be really tasty at nearly 16 years of age, it clearly has a long way to go. Drink now through 2033+. — a month ago

Served around 55°F. The cork looked all kinds of nasty underneath the capsule but I was able to extract it, intact, with the help of a Durand. I then poured the bottle into a decanter about 30min prior to service. At the ripe age of 41, the 1983 pours a deep gold with a transparent core; medium viscosity with some slight signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of baked stone fruits: peach, apricot, marmalade, hazelnuts, baked lemon, and those gummy peach rings. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and the texture is creamy, buttery. I thought this was a lovely, mature Corton Charlemagne and while it is very much alive, its life-force is fading. Drink now. — 17 hours ago
