Slightly less bright appearance , medium ruby core , wider ruby rim . Slightly more herbal in character , darker fruits perhaps . Cassis , dried herbs , grafite , cedar, seaside hints. Slightly more austere too . On the palate this has a little more dark fruit than expected , with darker cherry , cassis, dried herbs and a slight medicinal , black tea, anis tinge . Slightly more edgy , grippy tannins and good acidity, not perhaps as fresh as the 2021 . Pretty good depth and intensity too . Good mineral , grafite tinged finish . Slightly more advanced in comparison to the 2021 . This also needs time , quite austere in character with more grippy tannins . Will continue to improve over the 5 years and last well a further 10. — 7 days ago

Quite deep ruby with a relatively thin ruby garnet rim . Really aromatic , with rose , truffle , sweet cherries , blackberries , fresh cut herbs and some earthy undertones . After a while some dry spices. On the palate this is dense but incredibly well poised and balanced with fresh acidity , a mix of summer fruits , herbal tinges . Suave polished but quite noticeable tannins , this very long detailed and precise with wonderful refreshing acidity. Chalky mineral finish . Just gets better and better in the glass , a real crescendo becoming more mineral and precise , but maintaining all those cherry and summer fruits. Lovely now , but surely will improve further over the next 5 -10 years , and will last well a further 10 . The pinnacle of red burgundy in this challenging vintage? In all difficult to imagine a better 2013 , it has pretty much everything , a simply spectacular showing . At Auberge de l’ill in Illhaeusen , paired to perfection with a ‘simple’ roast Bresse chicken and a rich truffle sauce . Quite simply a match made in heaven . — 12 days ago

Medium ruby , bright with quite wide ruby rim . Ripe red berries on the nose , really open and expressive, strawberry , raspberry , some herbal tinges also . Quite ripe , but still enough freshness . On the palate ripe red fruits , strawberry , raspberry and light red cherry . Suave tannins , integrated alcohol and fresh acidity , still with silky mouthfeel . Good slightly stony tinged red fruit finish . Drinking very well but still young and fruit driven , quite ripe but still well balanced . From now and over the next 5 -8 years . At Cave & Cuisine , Demigny, 10km from Beaune , well worth a visit. — 21 days ago

Medium deep ruby , quite thin ruby rim. This is quite dense and tight on the nose , with some toasty notes with red cherry , blackberry , orange rind, cut herbs , cedar , violets and grafite. On the palate this has good acidity and fine but present tannins , good bright slightly spiced cherry , blackberry notes with mineral , herbal touches . Balanced alcohol with good long finish , spiced cherry , fresh finish . Very young but very promising , very well balanced and precise . Maybe come back in 5 or so years and last well a further 10-15. — 7 days ago

Medium straw with green reflexes . Quite creamy , toasty on the nose at first , lemon pith and some yellow fruits, light herbal hints , chalky notes after a while . Quite rounded and generous on the palate but with great balance . Fresh acidity , good extract . Good length , with lightly toasty finish . Still quite lean and detailed but with a pleasing richness . Good lemon tinged , stony length. Drinking quite well now , but this is pretty young will age quite well , probably better in 3-5 years and last well a further 3-5 . At Auberge de L’ill in Illhaeusen. — 11 days ago

Medium ruby , with a relatively wide ruby garnet rim , healthy bright colour . Quite a lot of dried dark fruits , cassis , spiced dried cherries , dried cut herbs , coffee . On the palate this has high acidity and good extract , well integrated alcohol , though it clocks in at 15% . Dried cherry , roasted herbs , cassis , earthy touches . Good length, and quite grippy but fine tannins . Enjoyable this evening but there is no rush this will probably improve over the next 5 or so years and last well over the following 5-10 years . Slightly more meaty in style, balsamic touch , herbal , some dry spice , sweeter dried fruits , orange rind, certainly more development than the 2011. On the palate this also has a more meaty character , porcini , dried cherry , herbal hints and earthy notes . Quite fresh acidity and lightly grippy tannins. This shows a bit of age , but is still at the end of its drinking window . From now and over the next few years . — 7 days ago

Medium light ruby , quite wide light ruby rim . On the nose shows good complexity with sous bois , truffle , cherry and raspberry. On the palate this is again more tertiary in character , with those cherry fruits complementing the earthy sous bois notes . With time this shows a mineral , stony undertow , but stays fresh and vital , with those cherry and raspberry notes . Very fine , ripe but grippy tannins . Fresh acidity and good balance , good velvety mouthfeel . This is great now though improves with time in the glass , so there is absolutely no rush here , from now and over the next 10 years perhaps. An excellent showing for this challenging year . At Auberge de l’ill, Illhaeusen. — 11 days ago

Quite light ruby , wide pink rim . Lots of tart red fruits , cranberry , raspberry , with fresh cut herbs and rose . On the palate this is very fresh with lots of red fruits and quite high refreshing acidity . Good fresh herbal crunchy cranberry, orange rind finish with lightly grippy tannins . Perfect now and over the next 5 years or so . At Osteria Giro de Vite, in Monchiero , a little place just outside of the Barolo region that is well worth visiting . — 18 days ago

Quite dense , with ruby , and a narrow ruby garnet rim . Quite a lot of dense fruit on the nose , cassis , blackberry , dark cherry some spice , but lively and fresh . On the palate quite velvety , suave tannins , balanced acidity . Quite juicy with the same of the dark fruits from the nose , cassis , blackberry . Lightly gritty tannins and good acidity , intergrated alcohol . Long dark fruit stained finish . Still really quite young and fruit driven . Even better in a few years and then will age well a further 5-10. At Ma Cuisine in Beaune . — 22 days ago
