A benchmark for Napa’s version of Bordeaux. Oiled leather, blackberry pie, white pepper on the nose. Soy sauce and savory notes in the finish. First class.

Wine of the night from our @charlescomm team dinner chez moi. Black cherry, dark cocoa, cigar leaf & gamey, bloody aromas. Great acidity and firm tannins. Drinking perfectly. Personality: Mads Mikkelsen in After The Wedding

Very ripe fruit and also a touch green in the finish. Nice wine.

I have always thought Dominus is the most left bank style for a new world Cabernet available. This 1999 was very restrained for a Napa Valley Cab blend - more savoury than fruit driven with cedar, herbs and some blackcurrant. Always a favourite of mine. Superb French wine making directed by the Moueix family, owners of Petrus.

Going vertical - very similar to the '95 - a very special bottle, albeit slightly towards the end of life

Drinking Fabulously! Integrated, luscious cassis with hints of chocolate on the finish.

Great dominus. Fruit and earth are extremely well integrated with subtle tannin and balance.
