Oct 6th, 2018Great smooth zin. Complex but muted flavors make this a great wine with or without food.

Actually liked the cheaper heritage vines better. This was a bit monochromatic in terms of fruit profile.

Color of dark red with purple note in the rim, a bit cloudy but mostly clear. Nose of nice black fruits, powerful acidity, herbs, raw tobacco leaves, and hotness from the alcohol. Taste is jammy, dense and silky. Nice notes of sweet cherry jam, strawberries, herbs, a bit oaky, and moderate strong tannins, after breaking it up with the tongue. Aftertaste is lingering sweetness of cherry jam, black pepper, zest, with some oaky note, medium long. Round and pleasant. It is more complex than usual Zinfandel you found in the market.
