Duckhorn Vineyards
Three Palms Vineyard Merlot
Nice example of the style, plums, violets, just a bit thin. Pricy.

Jun 17th, 2016Love to target those “bad” vintages the critics dog on, it really forces winemakers to make an old school style wine that hold up over time! This was still fresh, with plum, cassis, leather, spice, soft tannins with great acidity on the finish

May 19th, 2024Wine club gathering with dear friends. Two whites and two reds, all tasted blind.
This was the Merlot I had so many years ago that changed my perception on what could be done with the varietal. Love this stuff. It can hang with many of the big boys and exhibits nice finesse and depth with loads of espresso, ripe red fruits, and tar/balsamic.

Shared with Shawn at the completion of the patio. Full bodied, smooth, aged.

Sep 15th, 2017California Merlot that rivals excellent right bank Bordeaux. Full bodied, well integrated tannins, ripe but not overbearing. Quite different from Duckhorn's more standard Merlot don't think you have experienced Duckhorn Merlot until you try the Three Palms bottling. Drinking perfectly right now. Pairing well with London broil, assorted cheeses, and some John Denver tunes on the deck the day before Labor Day. Salute!
