Magnificent. Smells like a traditional Rotie from someone like Levet, but with an herbal eucalyptus note and warmth that is distinctly California. Fruit and tannins still there but resolved to an ethereal lightness, with secondary animalistic characteristics. Steve Edmunds brings a sense of balance and restraint that puts gloppy, alcoholic new world Syrah to shame.

Wow. A real gem from a vineyard site that is no more. Beautiful, full texture. Still some primary fruit, but really leaning toward savory tones at this stage. Alive! (Note: Only had a quick taste after opening [it's my job, damnit!], but this one was talkative)

Yes. Is this St. Jo? CA? North Coast? It turned out to be El Dorado Syrah from the late 90s. A real winner and much better than the last bottle of this I had had.
